Brief Description:  Engine baffle templates

The baffle drawing number is ONX-P10-ALL-1. Most of the parts are numbered ONX-P01-xx, which is different than Sonex's usual numbering convention. Since ONX-P01 is already "Engine Installation , AeroVee Engine", perhaps all the parts should be numbered P10-xx.

Using Photoshop with the PDF version of ONX-P10-ALL-1 rev C, I "cut" and "pasted" portions of the drawing that were at a scale of 1:2 to a new file that would fit on an 8-1/2x11 page when printed at 200%. I then printed the files and tapped the pages together to get a full size pattern of the parts. I cut out the patterns to trial fit to the engine to see how the parts fit together and where there might be problems.

Some of the parts seem to be adapted from the Sonex installation. The print shows where some of the parts need additional trimming for the Onex installation. As seen in image 2, part P01-14 needs trimming in the upper left and right of material that is not there (paper pattern exposed). Thus the supplied part is a little undersized in those areas.

Test fitted the paper patterns. It is a usefull exercise because I see there will be some adjustments made prior to installation. I'll try to modify the patterns for a best fit and transfer the modified pattern to the metal parts.

Jeremy Monnett will be doing an EAA Webinar tonight on flight test data recording, recording tools and analysis software. Should be interesting. If you miss the live broadcast, it will be on the EAA archives and a web link from the Sonex site.
